Hi guys! It’s me, the elusive creative force behind The Dough Bar. Sorry, I’ve been gone for so long but it’s all for good reason, I promise. At the beginning of the year I decided to pursue a long time dream of mine to further pursue my culinary passions in pastry and, I want to take you along with me on my journey. Together, we will be exploring the beautiful frosted world of cake decorating.
Decorating is a passion of mine that allows me to explore creatively all the things I don’t get to do in day job. If you weren’t aware this sweet journey started for me many years ago when I lived in Atlanta, GA and worked full-time as a Project Manager for a major telecom company. After feeling unfulfilled in my day job I started baking for friends and family, when I moved to Dallas, TX in 2008 I advanced from my classic cookies to decorated sugar cookies. This journey has allowed me to meet some amazing and wonderful people along the way and even propelled me in directions I never thought I would go, like teaching and cake.
Two years ago my journey propelled me from the corporate cubicle into the world of education. I am now a full-time high school Culinary Arts teacher in Dallas. Nine months out of the year I work diligently to help bring a new generation of young Bakers and Culinarians into our field helping them to discover new talents and self confidence.
This summer while school is out I hope you will join me on my continued journey to further grow as a Pastry Chef and educator. The beautiful creations artist and bakers such as myself make do not happen overnight they are a result of countless hours of training, practice and professional development. This summer you will travel along with me on such professional development as I enhance another new skill to enable me to bring make your sweet sugar dreams come true.
