As long as I can remember I’ve always dabbled in something creative. When I was a child I loved creative writing as well as drawing. As I moved from childhood to adulthood the dreams I had slowly faded away and were replaced with the day to day robotic routine of eat, sleep, work, repeat. My days consisted of living for vacation because I couldn’t wait to get away from work. However now that I’ve rediscovered my childhood joy of being creative, my days consist of Eat, Sleep, Decorate., Repeat and I LOVE it! Now vacations equal more time for me to work on my craft, learn new techniques and make sweet, pretty and delicious cookies/cakes.
We’re a long way from pretty cakes this week. This week’s cake lessons involved carved cakes and cupcake pull apart cakes. You know how when you attempt something new for the first time you know instinctively if this is for you or not? Well, I knew immediately this was not my cup of tea. I dreaded everything that was about this week’s lesson. There is nothing about carved and pull apart cakes that I like, probably because I’m a little bit of a control freak and was so out of my comfort zone. I mean seriously trying to figure out how to make this flamingo look remotely like a flamingo was torture.
So here’s a chuckle to kick off the weekend. The flamingo cake is a cupcake pull-apart cake and the fringe bikini babe cake is carved, LOL. Cross your fingers and let us pray Monday’s class isn’t as disastrous as this week’s class and I get to go back to decorating pretty cakes soon.
